Our VPK Program
The curriculum for our pre-kindergarten groups is tailored to the developmental needs of those turning four years old by September 1st. The VPK curriculum introduces more advanced fields of
study under the assumption that the prerequisite goals of the Preschool Program have been met. Subjects include math, phonological awareness, oral language and vocabulary, literacy, print knowledge,
introductory science, the arts, music, environmental issues and social studies. Children are encouraged to explore these topics with guidance and on their own.
At the core of our curriculum lies the assumption that all children are inherently inquisitive. Through appropriate stimulation and encouragement, Lighthouse Academy and Child Development Center
seeks to instill a love of learning in every child.
Daily Routine
A daily routine gives children comfort and stability. Knowing this, we are careful to provide a steady framework for their daily activities that nonetheless allows for spontaneous events and
activities.
